Last week, I ate "Hayashi rice".
My mother made it ↓

I like it very much:)
Do you like "Hayashi rice"??
Do you prefer "Hayashi rice" to curry rice?

I like both;)
I worked at a curry restaurant for about a half year.

So today, I'd like to introduce about Hayashi rice.

---ingredients are...---
beef
onion
butter
red wine
demi-glace sauce(brown sauce)

and rice!!

if you want to check recipe, please jump to this URL

By the way, Do you know the origin of "Hayashi rice"?
I introduce the most famous two stories.

1. Mr. Hayashi who was a manager of restaurant made the meal for his clerks. it was white rice with beef stew. The meal was called "Hayashi rice" because Mr.Hayashi made it.

2. Mr. Hayashi (早矢仕有的) who is the creator of Maruzen(Maruzen is a famouse book shop now). He had many foreign friends and he was familiar with western food. He made a meet and vegetable soup with rice and served it when his friends visited him. That rice was called "Hayashi-san rice". It became "Hayashi rice".

My mother always makes "Hayashi rice" with like ready made (or retort?? I don't know what called is it)one... I want to try to make it with brown sauce and red wine.

I would like to eat "Hayashi rice" at Maruzen!
If you know dericious "Hayashi rice" restaurant, please tell me:)

I became hungry...

See you★

I have many meals that my mom makes but I cannot explain these meals! My best one is fried chicken and grated onion with soy sauce.

  4. I like hayashi rice better than curry rice! I like spicy food, but I really like the rich flavor of hayashi rice. And I always wondered why it was called Hayashi rice too. I'm fascinated by how the Japanese have adopted and adapted so many Western foods to their tastes! I like the Japaense-Western food, but sometimes I really crave authentic foods. Like right now I could kill for a really good pork burrito!
