Do you like festivals in summer?!
Of course I love it very much!
Yeaterday I went to "Mitama matsuri" at Yasukuni shirine.
There were a lot of stalls.
I ate shaved ice. blue hawaii and calpis flavor.
What image do you have about stalls??
cotton candy was one of my favorite foods. I always bought when I was child.
I saw many kinds of stalls there yesterday.
Have you ever seen cucumber's stall?
I was surprised when I was it! The stall sells picled cucumbers. It looked delicious.
I wote about stalls at festivals.
by the way, have you ever visit stands like noodle or oden for drinking?!
My images of stands in Japan are for older people (office workers).
I serched about foreign stands.
Stands offer in early morning in Taiwan.
There stands sell noodle, rice, sandwiches, light meals. People eat breakfast at stands is normal in Taiwan. Stands are necessary for people in Taiwan.
And the night time, these stands offer fry, Takoyaki, Oden, Sushi, foods are from Japan. In Chena, there are no stands which offer Japanese foods like in Taiwan.
How about buy foods at stalls in festivals?
Enjoy summer♪

Crepe
What image do you have when you hear the word "Harajuku"??
Fashion, nice cafe, hair salon........crepe!
so today I would like to introduce crepe in Harajuku.
Actually I ate ice cream at that time...
Crepe is from France.
Sweet crepe is famous in Japan but crepe with vegetables and meat is also popular in France.
Do you know why crepe became famous in Harajuku?
The most famous store is "Marion crepe" on Takeshita st.
It was built in 1977. There was only ice cream and hamburgers people can eat while walking on a street so crepe became fashion.
Have you ever tried to make crepe in your home? Was it difficult for you?
I have tried to make crepe in my home.
It was difficult...especially to make thin crepe!
If you want to make thin crepe, I recommend this machine.

http://www.cloer-jp.com/product/item/677jp.html
This page introduce how to make crepe with that machine.
How about make your own sweets in your home?!
See you!

Tarako
I already introduced my favorite food "Hayashi-rice".
Today is about "Tarako spaghetti"
do you like it??!
I ate tarako spaghetti as a school lunch when I was an elementary school student (I was 6 or 7 years old). It was my first time to eat it and I liked it.
....but Tarako spaghetti was never served as a school lunch at my elementary school after that.
I asked my mom to make tarako spaghetti and she made it for me.
It is easy to make tarako spaghetti!
you need boiled pasta and mix with tarako sauce and put nori. just it!
this commercial was made by Kewpie. do you remember this one?
Tarako spaghetti is made in Japan. The owner used tarako instead of caviar.
If the owner used caviar, I think tarako spaghetti would not become my favorite food.
what kind of pasta do you like?!!

Omu-rice
Last week, I went to "Taimeiken" in Nihonbashi.
That day, I asked my dad to go out for dinner. My dad knows many delicious restaurants so I ask that sometimes.
I feel fathers are soft with their daughters. Don't you think so?!!
My father works at Nihonbashi so I used to go there when I was a child.
The most popular menu at Taimeiken is "Tampopo omu-rice".
By the way, do you know Omurice is made in Japan?
"Rengatei" made it the first. (Rengatei is in Ginza, it's a western dish restaurant same as taimeiken) "Rengatei" was opened in 1895 and the owner made omu-rice for staff. It became formal menu later.
The picture is "Hayashi omu-rice" at "Taimeiken". I ordered it.
It looks similar Tampopo omu-rice but you can cut medium-omelet if you order Tampopo omu-rice.
"Taimeiken" was opened in 1931. The third owner manages this restaurant now. He appers on TV sometimes. I think someone know him.
------------------------------------
I would like to introduce another omulet restaurant.
Have you ever seen a long line on Omotesando street in Harajuku??
http://www.eggsnthings.com/ original HP
Eggs'n Things is from Hawaii.
It is becoming popular and always it have a long line especially at lunch time on holidays.
http://r.tabelog.com/tokyo/A1306/A130601/13105121/
This is Tabelog's HP!
There are many photos.
I went there before. I ate omulet and it was delicious:)
I want to try pan-cake next time!
I make omu-rice sometime but it's difficult for me to wrap meat with egg.
If you know a good way to wrap, please tell me:)

Onion
I didn't have any classes so I made dinner yesterday.
I live with my family. My mom makes meals everyday so I don't have an opportunity to make dishes.
I made cobb salad(I wrote about it latest blog!) and hamburger steak.
Did you make hamburger steak in your class when you were junior high school student?? I remember that class. I made it in home economics class when I was a junior high school student.
I think it not hard for me to make hambyrger steak
.......but the first step!
You have to mince an onion.
The onion made me cry yesterday.
I couldn't stop my tears...
Do you know why onions make you cry?

Onions have lachrymal things. (lachrymal means of or relating to tears) It affect your tears.
To stop tears, I introduce some ways.
1. before you cut an onion, store onion in your refrigerator
2. cut onion quaters and put into water in a moment3. hold your tongue on the roof on your mouth but don't breath through your nose when you are cutting.
I'm not sure these are true or not....
I made dinner with my sister
but I thought mothers are hard and busy!!!
I think I shoud make more chances to help my mom.
Have you ever made dinner for anyone?!
See you!

Cobb salad
Do you have any specific one?
I often went to Saizeriya when I was a high school student.
I belonged brassband club. After the practice there is Saizeriya near our high school so our team mate often go there. We talked about our band, senior or complaints at there..... I cannot write but Saizeriya was popular because food is cheper than other restaurants. The doria is only 300yen. It' s very kind for high school students!
Now I love "Denny's".
I really like Denny's so I'm thinking about to start part time job there.
Today I would like to introduce my favorite menu at Denny's.
It's cobb salad. (I took this picture on Denny's homepage so the quality is not good )
I order it everytime when I go to Denny's.
But do you know who is Cobb chef?!
He is from Los Angeles and he was the owner of Brown Derby at Hollywood. He made this salad in 1937. He made it when he was very hungry. He looked at refrigerator at his restaurant. Cobb salad includes lettuce, avocado, tomato, chicken, crisp bacon, hard-boiled egg and so on. He served this salad for the owner of famouse theater. The owner visited Cobb's restaurant again to eat the salad. Cobb salad became popular at west side of America.
Cobb salad doesn't have official recipe because it's board food at restaurant. You can put everything you want in this salad.
Cobb salad is becoming known many people in Japan because they tend to choose healthy food. This salad is hearty so after you eat, you feel full.
There are a lot of family restaurants in Japan.
I see many families(or groups) go there and have lunch or dinner with their familiy. I think it's social activity, right??
What your favorite family restaurant menu?
I want to eat cobb salad;)
See you!

ice cream!
I bought it at "Ministop".
Did you watch new commercial message?
Erika Toda presents new ice cream cone.
http://www.ministop.co.jp/ministopfan/softcream/vanilla.html
They chaged the taste. I felt more real milk (I don't have any good expression to exprain this taste) and I guess than they changed price, too. It became more expencive than before.
I think Ministop's ice cream corn is the best ice cream of convenience stores in Japan. Do you agree with me??!
I like this ice cream since I was a child. I always buy ice cream corn at Ministop because it's the nearest convenience store from my house. I eat this ice cream corn when...I feel happy or I finish report, part time job..... it's hot or just because etc.
I prefer vanilla ice cream because I can judge the shop is good or bad when I eat vanilla one.
which flavor do you like the best?!
It will be getting hotter and hotter.
Let's eat ice cream:)
See you!

By the way, Do you know the origin of "Hayashi rice"?
I introduce the most famous two stories.
1. Mr. Hayashi who was a manager of restaurant made the meal for his clerks. it was white rice with beef stew. The meal was called "Hayashi rice" because Mr.Hayashi made it.
2. Mr. Hayashi (早矢仕有的) who is the creator of Maruzen(Maruzen is a famouse book shop now). He had many foreign friends and he was familiar with western food. He made a meet and vegetable soup with rice and served it when his friends visited him. That rice was called "Hayashi-san rice". It became "Hayashi rice".
